This Edwin Jagger Chatsworth Imitation Ebony Shaving Brush is handmade in Sheffield using finest, highly polished, black polyester and is filled with synthetic silvert tip fibre.
Synthetic silver tip fibre performs very well as an alternative to real badger hair. It is an ideal choice for vegetarians or vegans and the feel and quality of the lather and shave will be comparable. The combination of brush, hot water and shaving cream will produce a rich lather, soften and lift the beard in preparation for shaving.

- Elegant and effective synthetic brush
I bought this with the matching DE razor to make a set. I like the Chatsworth design and already have it in ivory but wanted to try a synthetic brush. I am not a vegan but do have reservations about the origin of badger hair. Also, I find my badger brushes shed. The brush is good to hold, looks elegant and is a good size for me. The synthetic knot feels very soft to touch but is firm enough when lathering which it does well. It does not splay in quite the same way as a badger. It can feel a bit prickly in use though but this is easily remedied by using a “painting“ motion rather than “swirling” which is probably good practice anyway. I am pleased with this purchase.
