Alum is the original antiseptic aftershave, made with natural potassium alum. This mineral compound has been used for centuries for its healing and soothing properties, helping reduce redness and razor burn. It can also help minor shaving nicks heal more quickly by constricting blood vessels and tightening pores.
Small amounts of alum can be found in some shaving soaps and creams to improve comfort during shaving, but applying a pure alum block after shaving provides the highest level of relief and skin care.
